King Salmon! Alaska's state fish! Chrome, thick, and full of energy, these fish are an absolute blast to battle. Up to 50 pounds in size, these fish are prized for their oily orange meat and their excellent battle skills. Only 30 minutes from Anchorage, the Knik River provides a unique terminal fishery for King Salmon and is open year round to retention of these fish. Unlike most places, this fishery is 100% hatchery enhanced and is a terminal fishery meaning that these kings do not spawn and reproduce and thus die at the end of their lives. This is great for sport fishing as it provides more opportunity for those looking to put king salmon to the freezer! At only $150 per person, these trips are perfect for kids of all ages, beginners, and expert fisherman! We can accommodate up to 6 guests on our magnificent Wooldridge jet sleds. We generally back troll or stationary troll plugs, spinners, and salmon eggs in order to catch these mighty fish. We also float salmon eggs under a bobber as well as cast and retrieve spinners when the water is clear enough. These 4 hour fishing trips are wonderful for those looking to try their luck at catching a king salmon and not having to spend an entire day driving to your destination. Here, you can wake up, grab some coffee, catch a king salmon, and be back in Anchorage in time for lunch. We will leave the launch at 5am on the morning trip and 10am on the mid-afternoon trip. We provide all bait, tackle, fishing gear, and a license and insured coast guard captain. With either Brian or Mike, you'll have a blast fishing in anticipation waiting of that epic takedown!
