Back’N Black is a 53’ Bobby Sullivan custom Carolina vessel built in 1987 and has been a prime sport fishing charter boat of the Outer Banks since that day! As part of the world’s best charter fleet here in our coastal waters, your charter will enjoy catching Billfish, Mahi, Tunas, Wahoo, Bottom Fish, and even a Shark or two. With a new name and brand, the Black’N Black vessel has been re-powered with industry-leading electronics along with a Cat c18 1000hp engine enabling cruising speeds to upwards of 28knots.
The updated renovations to the main cabin of the vessel and brand new HVAC system makes for a very comfortable journey in between catches for any serious fisherman or family trip. The Interior includes 2 large sofas, TV, and a kitchen area with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave. Aboard the vessel during your trip the mezzanine seating provides a comfortable sitting area with sun and spray protection provided by the flybridge overhang to enjoy all the action one step up from the cockpit sole. Offshore full-day trips target Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin/Billfish, and Tile fish(bottom fishing). We like to leave the Dock around 4am but at the latest departure will be 5am with a return time of 4pm’ish unless crew is tired from fighting fish or weather. 20% tip is customary to mate on any Charter boat in the area.

A full sun set and sun rise to be on the fish, plus drift fishing for swordfish and sharks. By far the most exciting offshore trip to date. Fishing was a little slow but the crew put in the work to get us on some fish. Would highly recommend and will be going again with these guys. Kept us entertained and work ethic like no other. Great work fellas, see you again soon.

Capt Derek Nelson and mate Johnathan are top notch. We got into the yellowfin first thing including an 87 lb’r, then hooked up and got a leader release on a beautiful 450 lb Blue Marlin; finished up with a couple nice bull Mahi. Fantastic day and excellent chemistry between captain and mate. Highly recommend these guys.

Full Day Trip – Nearshore
Was a wonderful first fishing trip with my son! Derek and John were awesome. They were so good with my young son (he’s twelve). Derek let him sit up top and talk his ear off the whole time. John worked hard to make sure we had fish on the line. My son’s face with his first fish will be a memory I have forever. Thank you so much!
