Right back where I left off. Just recently got back from an 11 day cruise to the South Caribbean, happy wife, happy life, or so they say! While on my trip I booked a trip with Tampa local Jack and his son Wes. I told them I will not have fished for 2 weeks, but I am not worried about it. Once we got on the boat we instantly hit it off and I new this was going to be a good day, a tough day until conditions were right but that wasn't going to be till the last hour of the trip around 12:30. We worked the shorelines managing a nice red and jumped a few small snook, then when the tide dropped out we went to some deep water oyster bars but were overtaken by sail cats and lady fish. Fun fish to catch but bit what we were going for. Then we made our way to the creek and managed a nice trout and a few small snook. It was a slow grind. Now it was close to 12:30 and we headed back out to the flats and started working the shoreline. First cast we hook up with a 22 inch snook. The next hour we landed over a half dozen more snook including a 30" slot snook that demonstrated why they are such fun to catch with long runs and amazing jumps. We also lost a few nice reds. Not bad for just throwing artificial lures all day! Book your trip today as fishing is really heating up!
