He has been fishing the waters of the Florida Keys since 1989. Fishing with family is important to Capt. Matt. Because of this, he welcomes children of all ages aboard for what’s sure to be a fun time on the water. Bamboo Charters and Captain Matt have a fleet of boats that can accommodate 4 guests to 6 guests. The Go Fish I is a 25’ Bay Boat that’s powered by a 300HP Yamaha engine. This vessel is equipped with USCG approved safety gear. It also has modern navigational equipment, a fish finder, and a live well for fresh bait. It has a casting platform as well as snorkeling equipment. On your trip with Bamboo Charters all rods, reels, terminal tackle, lures, and fresh bait is included. The fishing license for you and your guests is also included. You’ll be fishing the backcountry of Florida as well as other fishing locations such as nearshore, inshore, offshore, reef, and flats. Captain Matt offers bottled water and sodas on your trip with Bamboo Charters. Had a Blast!
Capt. Joe was great! We had a blast out on the water and he knew the great spots to go! A pleasure to talk to and tell jokes with as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Half Day Trip
My father booked a half day trip for him, myself, and 3 of my sons (ages 8, 6, and 4) with Capt. Matt. Given that this business attracts competitive fishermen looking to hook large fish like tarpon I was amazed how Capt. Matt was able to get the kids attention as well. He told jokes and let the kids get to know him so they were comfortable and could really have fun. He then picked the perfect spot for us and made sure all the kids were fully engaged and having fun. Our chosen bait was live shrimp which the kids thought was awesome, and Capt. Matt took the time to make sure everyone knew how to bait their hook. We would consistently get a bite as soon as we dropped a line and probably caught 25-35 fish within 2 hours, of which a dozen or so were kept. I know some people may not be sure about bringing kids on a fishing trip, but I have to say, Capt. Matt's years of experience work for all ages and levels of fishing. I would recommend this business to anyone, whether it's a full scale trip for tarpon or 12" snapper with your kids.

Delightful Day on the Water
Captain Matt took my husband and I back country fishing on February 20, 2019. He is very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, and the insights that he provided were very fascinating. He kept a close eye on the weather conditions and kept in good communication with us for a few days prior to our trip. We had to make some adjustments, because it was very windy that day, but he still managed to find us plenty of fish to catch. We also saw a small group of bottlenose dolphins, which was incredible. Matt cleaned our fish for us and recommended local restaurants that would cook our catch. Delicious! Overall this was an amazing day that we will not soon forget. We highly recommend Bamboo Charters for an absolutely delightful day on the water!
