Captain JP Mckay will be your guide as you enjoy fishing in Lake Okeechobee. Capt. JP has been running Florida fishing charters for over 30 years. He has participated in many fishing tournaments and has been catching trophy fish his whole life. He loves to meet new people and teach them everything he knows about the sport of fishing. Capt. JP has many fishing tales he could entertain you with on your trips with him. He is very patient with kids and loves to see the smiles on their face when they reel in their very first Bass.

Your Florida fishing charter journey with Capt. JP will cover the fishing grounds of Lake Okeechobee. Sitting in South Florida, this lake is the largest freshwater lake in Florida and offers wonderful fishing opportunities year-round. You could explore the shores of Lake Harbor, Keela, Clewiston, Pahokee, Canal Point, Shawnee, and many other locations in Lake Okeechobee.

Fishing will be done off of Capt. JP’s 21ft Storm bass boat that is perfect for Lake fishing in Florida. Her 250hp Mercury Pro XS engine will allow for fast and comfortable travel speeds to and from fishing spots. She has room for you and one other guest to enjoy Lake Okeechobee fishing. This fishing vessel features a wireless trolling motor to help sneak up on those easily frightened species. A cooler will also be on board to keep your drinks and snacks fresh.

We offer full and half day fishing trips that provide you with rods, reels, tackle, and lures. Please purchase a Florida fishing license prior to the start of your trip with Capt. JP.

Lake Okeechobee is teeming with amazing fish species! Some of the species you can expect to catch with us include Peacock Bass, Largemouth Bass, Bream, and Oscars.

This trip will see you fishing for the afternoon bite of Largemouth Bass or Peacock Bass on Lake Okeechobee. Other fish you could catch include Panfish such as Bream and Oscars. Your trip includes lures, but if you want to fish using Shiners as live bait, Captain JP can advise you where you can purchase them before the trip. They go for $10-$20 depending on the type.

This is a morning trip for Largemouth Bass or Peacock Bass on Lake Okeechobee. Other fish you could catch include Panfish such as Bream and Oscars. Your trip includes lures, but if you want to fish using Shiners as live bait, Captain JP can advise you where you can purchase them before the trip. They go for $10-$20 depending on the type.

Largemouth Bass or Peacock Bass on Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. Other fish you could catch include Panfish such as Bream and Oscars. Your trip includes lures, but if you want to fish using Shiners as live bait, Captain JP can advise you where you can purchase them before the trip. Native Shiners go for $10 a dozen, whereas Wild Golden Shiners can cost you $20 for a dozen.

My girlfriend and I booked with Captain John to have a experience a Lake Okeechobee. So far this was one of the best fishing experiences I was ever able to experience. John is filled with insightful stories and made the experience 100 times better. I enjoyed learning about my passion of fishing even more, with learning tricks of the trade as well as creating a new friendship. Captain John is a great man and even better guide. You will have an amazing day fishing and he will absolutely keep you entertained. His boat and his equipment is top notch, you absolutely will not be disappointed for this experience at all. Be ready to catch some fish! Can’t wait to see captain John again. Fish on brother!

Full Day Trip
Fishing with JP was a blast. My 14 year old grandson wanted to catch Peacock Bass and JP suggested the Everglades as our best chance. It turned out to be rainy day and JP was ready. He provided rain suits, had us strap on life vests, and we flew out to a spot on his awesome Ranger bass boat at 70 mph. We thought we were pretty good fisherman but JP showed us how the professionals do it. JP coached us both but really took extra time to work with my grandson. He has a style that will have you laughing all day and most important catching fish. We lost count after 40 on a half day trip. Caught mostly Peacock and a few Large Mouth, Blue Gill, and Jaguar. JP preached about how to avoid the pesky Gars but we landed a couple, much to his chagrin, none the less. You can’t go wrong with the Bass Whisperer.

I got to fish a full day with Captain JP McKay on Lake Okeechobee 1-4-21, and I had the most productive day in my 35 years of fishing. The trip started with a smooth ride on his 21 foot Ranger bass boat to our first spot. Dealing with a cold front and steady winds, I thought we were in for a hard day of fishing but Captain McKay’s experience & knowledge had me catching fish within the first ten minutes. Thanks to Captain McKay and all of his advice and help, I caught over 30 largemouth bass and my personal best bass over 8lbs. I had a great time and hopefully I’ll get another opportunity to charter with Captain McKay in the future.
