Based out of Hoquiam, Washington, Captain Mike Shank has access to an abundance of fruitful rivers. One of the rivers Big Fish guide service fishes out of is the world famous Humptulips River where we’ll be targeting MASSIVE Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, sea run Cutthroat Trout, and Steelhead. Capt. Mike’s passion for angling started as a child. He caught the bug when he was old enough to hold his first rod over 35 years ago. His life’s dream has always been to guide others, and well, mission accomplished! Mike is an open book and he would love to share his lifetime’s worth of fishing knowledge with YOU. She’s mainly powered by the river’s currents, but she has a 1hp engine on board in case you need to head up river. The vessel has enough room to comfortably accommodate up to 3 anglers. The boat is equipped with Life Jackets, and of course all of the First-Aid equipment needed in the rare event that anything were to happen. And as a bonus safety feature, Captain Mike Shank is CPR certified.

Big Fish guide service offers either Half Day trips or Full Day trips, so you decide which one will be the best fit! No matter which trip you decide to book, you’ll be on the hunt for the following species: Coho Salmon, Cutthroat Trout, King Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Sockeye Salmon, and Steelhead.

On your trip, you’ll have the ability to decide which technique you’d like to use. Big Fish guide service can accommodate both Fly-Fisherman and anglers looking to use conventional gear alike. For the conventional gear anglers, you’d be using a variety of jigging, casting, spinning, and drifting to lure the fish to your bait. Your trip price will include all Rods, Reels, and Tackle, as well as fresh or live bait. Mike Shank will also use an underwater camera to provide you with once in a lifetime photos for you to show off to all of your friends and family!
