My young family of 4 has wanted to try deep sea fishing for a few years, so my husband booked this half-day trip to end our recent FL vacation. My children are 10 and 6, without much experience in the ocean. I came prepared with amble supply of snacks, drinks, sunscreen, towels, and a few items my youngest would surely enjoy. We didn’t know what to expect, but are so grateful we tried it because it became the highlight of our trip!!
Captain Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and a delight to spend the day with!! He allowed us to be as involved as we wanted to be, was sensitive to our family’s range of comfort levels out at sea, and engaged in conversation with all of us—including my children. He patiently answered all of our numerous questions, was attentive to the various needs during the trip, and multitasked well. He kept the lines baited and in the water at all times. Captain Ryan knew which fish types and sizes were legal to keep, how they tasted, and how to prepare them. He kept the boat clean and cared how our adventure was going. When my youngest was feeling apprehensive, he pointed out pods of dolphins nearby, which helped her enjoy the trip even more! We caught black nose sharks, a black fin shark, and red fish during our adventure—about 15 in total at multiple locations. We never felt much of a lull and enjoyed every minute together!
We took notice that Captain Ryan had a great positive reputation on the docks from others around, and he expertly filleted our catch immediately when we got back. He Instructed us on how to get our catch cooked at the restaurant on the docks (which was delicious!), and packaged the rest for us to take home. Bring a cooler in case you catch something you want to keep. Everything I just described does not give justice to how incredible our adventure was!! I highly recommend Captain Ryan and Canaveral Charter Adventures to all of my family and friends.
