There are only two things one has to know about fishing Tampa Bay in the summer...heat and rain. One any given day it is going to rain. West wind in the morning means rain in the morning. East wind in the morning means rain in the afternoon. But not just a sprinkle. It is usually accompanied by lightning and strong winds in short squalls. Then there is the heat. Up to 120 heat index, temp plus humidity. It is known as the "feels like temperature." So what is the perfect scene for fishing? First light to about noon and 4 p.m. to dark in the afternoon. If it is not raining for either. Most of these fish were caught in early morning.
