Half Day Trip- Nearshore
Daniel was easy to reach to discuss the trip and he remained flexible on the type of trip based on the weather. We were staying on the IOP and he came to pick us up at Shem Creek to save us a longer drive. His boat is plenty big for four of us (dad, 2 teenage daughters and 12 yr old son) and it’s clean and well cared for. Daniel caught lots of live bait before picking us up so we could head directly out to fish. We did a 4 hour near shore trip and fished a sunken barge a few miles out. Daniel had us on black sea bass immediately and we caught our first shark with lines in less than 20 minutes. The highlights were the red drums - each of us caught a nice one! Daniel let us stay out a little extra time and my daughter landed a stingray for the final fish of the day. Daniel kept the lines rigged, baited and in the water. He was great with the kids and I learned a lot about the local waters. It was a terrific trip all around. We highly recommend Captain Daniel and we will definitely fish with him on our next visit to the area!

Exuberant Fishing Day! Started the day by catching shrimp for bait. Daniel casted the net a few times and before you knew it the live well was full, we had more bait then we needed, he also had live shrimp for us in case we didn’t catch any. We set off to get the day started and rode out in 3-4 swells. It was a bit windy but man did the boat cut through the swells and was unbothered by the wind. We stayed dry the entire ride out (and back in). We headed off to the near shore reef where we immediately were catching fish sea bass, weak fish, even caught a toad fish which matched some of his rods! After an action packed hour or so we headed back into the jetties and a few other spots on the way into the harbor. Lastly we finished hitting an awesome reds spot. Reds after reds we had fun catching then until it was time to call it a day. We must of landed over 20+ reds. When we arrived back to the dock we had Dan teaches us how to filet the fish. He did one and then we did the rest! To my surprise Dan was a good teacher because I was able to filet my fish with ease and will be fileting my fish moving forward. All in all a great experience. I would recommend him to any families that have small children, new Charlestonians who may want to learn how to fish the area or learn the water ways, or any one who wants a stress free day catching fish.
