CruiseFishDive is operated by Captain Mark Garcy, a professional angler with a wealth of fishing knowledge. He has over three decades of experience fishing the waters from Alaska to the Great Lakes, and the West and East Coasts of Florida. Capt. Mark is also an avid tournament angler and a member of the SKA Tournament team “Reel 1 Up” and spearfishing team “Spear 1 UP” and is on the Pro Staff for Owner Hooks. To set your mind at ease Captain Mark also has been trained and certified as a rescue diver and Captain with a towing endorsement. From 2001 to 2010 he was part of a Marine Emergency Response Team assisting with boating and medical emergencies. He is a salvage diver with years of salvage and recovery experience. A huge advantage we have over anyone else in this industry is that we run dive charters weekly giving us extensive knowledge of the spots we fish and dive in return we don't have to guess where the fish are.
Spear 1 Up is a 28ft Dusky that is well equipped for fishing and scuba diving expeditions in the offshore waters of Southwest Florida. To help get you to the perfect spot, the vessel is powered by twin 225 HP Mercury Opti Max Outboard engines and furnished with Garmin navigational electronics. The roomy deck seats six passengers comfortably along with two crew members, and a large live well and cooler are fitted on board. For your travelling comfort, the boat is complete with a marine head and fresh water wash down. Spear 1 Up also provides spearfishing and snorkeling equipment and has plenty of space for scuba diving tanks and gear both above and below deck, with emergency oxygen included on board.
Reel 1 Up’s offshore charters can take you to various locations up to 9 miles from the coast. You will have the opportunity to explore several reefs, wrecks and bottom structures, targeting species such as Barracuda, Grouper, Spanish Mackerel, Permit, Sheephead, Snook, Snappers and Shark. Depending on your skill level, you can cast lures or bottom fish with bait. Penn and Shimano reels and Custom Shakespeare and Star Rods are all provided on board as part of the charter package. Reel 1 Up prefers to practice catch and release where possible, although they can clean and fillet your catch for you for a delicious dinner.
Captain Mark Garcy and his crew are great with families, young kids, veteran anglers, and everything in between. Captain Mark’s first mate will be in the cockpit throughout the entirety of the trip managing the spread of lines, rigging the baits, and helping you land your trophy if needed. The first mate is included in your trip cost, but a 15-20% tip at the end of your trip is greatly appreciated!
