Dakota Prairie Guide Service is located in Oacoma, off I-90 between Rapid City and Sioux Falls. Guides are happy to provide transportation from your hotel to the launch area and back. Vehicles for transportation and boats will vary, depending on which guide you are fishing with on the day of your trip. We’ll be targeting a variety of freshwater species, including Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Bluegill, Catfish, and of course the very popular Walleye. Walleye fishing is a year round opportunity, with activity starting right after the ice goes away (around March, depending on the weather). As the weather gets hotter, so does the bite! There are months when it's not uncommon to put a 100 fish in the boat in one day. Once the ice is back we switch gear and go ice fishing. Jim offers limited ice fishing trips as thickness may vary each year. Ultimately, Jim determines the safety of each trip and offers ice fishing when he’s confident it will be a safe and productive trip. Your trip includes an extra cooler for your food and drinks, ice, bait, high quality tackle, rods & reels, as well as cleaning, packaging, and freezing of fish. You’ll need to bring a South Dakota fishing license (available online), clothing for the weather, sunscreen, bug repellent, and enthusiasm for a great day of fishing!
