Because we are involved with assisting scientists in a number of different shark research projects, every shark we catch provides some measure of data to one or more studies. Some sharks are simply measured, released, and recorded. Some sharks are tagged with basic recapture type tags while some are fitted with expensive satellite transmitters. Every shark landing is important and logged into our daily shark data sheet which records the location, shark species, sex, length, estimated weight, bait used, type of hook used, location of the hook-set, depth hooked, time of day, water temperature, and various other aspects of the catch. This data is made available to shark researchers and marine managers.

The 40’ FISH FINDER is a safe, clean, and comfortable six passenger, custom-built sport fishing charter boat. She’s equipped with more than enough modern tackle, equipment, and state-of-the-art electronics to effectively pursue and capture fish from the smallest minnow to the largest shark. Fly rods, spinning rods, bottom rods, stand-up and conventional trolling rods - the FISH FINDER is armed with a diverse enough arsenal of tackle to accommodate the whims of most fishermen.

One look at the FISH FINDER and you’ll have to agree that she’s a breed apart from the rest of the fleet. Inside you’ll find an enclosed head, v-bunks, and comfortable seating around a dinette table. Outside is a massive 11’X19’ fishing cockpit, an insulated fish-hold, fighting chair, outside seating and under a shaded canvas top around a 2nd dinette table. Charter fees aren’t inflated to cover fancy decorations, plush carpeting, and color TVs. This vessel is forty feet of very serious fishing machine!

Captain Mark Sampson will be at the helm of the Fish Finder while you’re out on the water. He’s been working in the recreational fishing industry since he was a kid, first as a dock-boy and eventually as manager of an Ocean City marina. But since 1987 his "full-time" job has been a charter boat captain and fishing guide. Besides fishing out of Ocean City and the Florida Keys, he also works as an outdoor writer, and a captain’s school instructor. Here are some highlights: U.S. Coast Guard licensed Master/Captain and Fishing Guide since 1986, Founder - Ocean City Shark Tournament, Outdoor writer - published in more than a dozen journals and magazines, Author of Modern Sharking, published 2008, Guide for 20 IGFA world records and numerous Maryland state records, Shark Research - tagging & data collection, Volunteer - National Aquarium Marine Animal Rescue Program, Advisor - NMFS Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel, Instructor - Three B's Captain's School.
