Both Captain Joseph and Captain Austin are lifelong anglers, with their passion for fishing starting at the early age of 4. Their combined local knowledge of secret wreck coordinates and other “honey holes” will have everyone on board reeling in trophy catches, regardless of prior angling experience! They have ample experience with a range of fishing techniques including bottom fishing, trolling, handlining, and drift fishing. The time of year will be the determining factor on which technique you’ll be using, Captain Joseph will choose the technique that will yield YOU the most fish! Get ready to fish the Long Island Sound and surrounding waters of Stamford, Connecticut aboard The Fish Hunter! She’s a 35ft Pickerell Downeast sport fisher powered by a 275hp Cummins engine. The Fish Hunter was built with both performance and comfort in mind. There’s a fully flushable, private toilet on board as well a wheelchair ramp to ensure anyone with an eager attitude can enjoy the abundant waters of the Long Island Sound! Top of the line electronics such as a GPS and Fishfinder will help Captain’s Justin and Austin stay on top of the fish, you have a day filled with bent rods and unforgettable memories in front of you! Running tight on time? The half day trips are a great way to spend the morning or afternoon! Captain Joseph and Austin will take you to the nearby wrecks and ledges to maximize the time with a rod in hand. The three quarter and full day trips are where the action really starts to heat up! Friendly Captain and Crew
Fish Hunter Charters was a great company to go with. We had Captain Joseph and his first mate Chris who were wonderful. Although they probably do this all day everyday, they were still excited and enthusiastic about the experience and making it the best trip for us. We started in the reef and caught about 15 Black Sea Bass and 5 good sized porgy’s. We then trolled for Stripers but probably was too early in the season to get them. They were fun, accommodating, friendly, and great guides altogether. Would recommend this company.

Fun family trip
This trip was such a great experience for the adults and kids! We had a fantastic time learning to fish to actually doing a great job fishing. We caught porgies, seabass and I even caught a shark! The crew was so nice and knowledgeable about fishing and the area. We traveled from Jersey to have this experience and it was well worth the trip! Thank you for a great time and it was a great idea as a Father’s Day gift for my husband and brother in law. They loved it.

Memorable trip
First family fishing trip and made some wonderful memories for us. The instruction was great and really felt the service was A* ensuring we were having a great time. Caught sea bass and porgies and learned also about some other fish we accidentally caught. Had a great time and will definitely be back!
