Captain Janot Vilardell will be manning the helm on your fishing charter adventure. Capt. Janot is very experienced, knowledgeable, and is great with teaching beginners how to fish. Capt. Janot knew he wanted to be a fisherman before the age of 5 and is living his dream by being able to run fishing guides and help people discover the beauty of fishing. Capt. Janot will accommodate the trip to your needs and help you have the best time possible.

Your trip with us will cover the magnificent Crystal River and Tsala Apopka chain of lakes. A little over an hour drive southwest from Gainesville and sitting on the edge of Crystal Bay in the Gulf of Mexico, this area offers many fishing opportunities for you on our trips.

Your fishing will be done aboard Capt. Janot’s 16ft 2019 Florida custom mudboat that’s powered by a 35HP Godevil engine. The shallow draft of the boat makes it easy to drift through the shallow waters, which especially comes in handy for gigging trips.

You can spend the day fishing the famous Tsala Apopka chain of lakes for Bass or wait for the sun to go down and visit the backcountry, flats and nearshore reefs, targeting Redfish, Snook, Seatrout, Tarpon,Grouper, Snapper, Flounder, Sharks, and many more. Snorkeling and spearfishing are also available but make sure to request the equipment in advance.

All our trips provide you with rods, reels, tackle, lures, and bait. A fishing license will be included at the start of the trip and we will clean and prepare your catches afterwards, so you are able to enjoy as a meal later. Some fishing techniques we practice include bottom fishing, sight fishing, drift fishing, flounder gigging, fly fishing, jigging, spearfishing, spinning, trolling, and light tackle fishing.

Cobia & Tripletail
Captain took us out on Friday. Weather was iffy with winds and chop forecast to make it not the best day and Captain offered to take us Saturday versus Friday, but Friday was the only day we could go because of friend returning to Virginia Saturday morning. We attempted a little offshore but too rough, so he took us to a more protected area and put us on the fish. When action go slow, he would move us to another spot. Very helpful on teaching us proper technique, used different bait and equipment was first class. We limited out on redfish and caught many redfish just under the legal limit which were released. Caught variety of fish and for the weather conditions, it was a good day of fishing under any conditions. Cleaned our fish when we got to the dock and returned home after a good day of fishing. Would definitely recommend him and would go fishing with him again. He worked hard for us from start to finish.

Offshore Grouper Trip
I had asked about fishing, scalloping, spear fishing, and catching shark-and he made it happen. It was a long hot day, but we scalloped (not very well, but not the Captain’s fault), and my daughter finally got to reel in her shark! Spear fishing - well that wasn’t the captain’s fault either. We caught a wide variety of fish (more than on any previous trip), including a massive stingray! Got to keep several fish and scallops, and our kids had fun (15 yr old boy and girl). Would recommend! Thank you for taking us out.
