You’ll be guided by Captain Nelson Herrera. With over 36 years of experience fishing the waters of the Northern Coast of the Dominican Republic, it’s safe to say Captain Nelson will effortlessly put YOU on the fish! High Z’s Fishing Tours was started in 2006 to offer Puerto Plata fishing charters for the increasing numbers of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic. The only thing Captain Nelson loves more than catching Marlin, is helping his clients hook up on Marlin! This is your fishing trip, and the entire High Z’s Fishing Tours team will do everything in their power to make sure you’re satisfied.
The High Z’s Fishing Tour team welcomes any and all anglers aboard our 34ft Dual Console charter boat. You don’t need any prior fishing experience to be able to have the fishing trip of a lifetime. If this is going to be your first offshore fishing trip, or maybe you’re a little rusty, Captain Nelson Herrera and his crew are great teachers. They’ll make sure you’re confident and prepared to fight that 300lb Blue Marlin! Charter boat High Z’s is equipped with a multitude of top-notch fishing equipment. These include a GPS, fish finder, downriggers, outriggers, and a First Mate. As far as comfort features go, the High Z’s Fishing Tour’s charter boat is outfitted with a bed, kitchen, saloon (living room), and a toilet. We have all of the required licenses to fish a maximum of 10 anglers.
Captain Nelson Herrera offers 3 different trip lengths. If you’re tight on time and want to get a taste of the incredible fishing that Puerto Plata offers, our half day trip will be perfect for you. For the anglers looking for the best experience, our full day 8hr trip is what we recommend! These trips allow Captain Nelson time to cover more ground, visit more of his “honey holes”, and more time to help YOU catch multiple billfish on the day! No matter which trip you decide to book, you’ll likely catch: Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Mahi Mahi (Dolphin), Sailfish, Sharks, and Wahoo. Your trip price for the day includes a Fishing License for everyone on board, fresh/live bait, use of all rods, reels, and tackle, drinks/snacks, and we’ll clean your catches at the end of the trip!

Weather cancellations are at your Captain’s discretion, your safety is their number one priority! You will receive a refund for any weather cancellation, or you can choose to reschedule your trip for a different date.

With the extra time, Captain Nelson is happy to cook your catch on board! He has a love for both cooking and fishing, so is proud to share both of these passions with you. The extra time allows you to fish deeper and further. You will be able to target Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. Please remember your sunscreen! Tips for the First Mate are greatly appreciated.
