J. Lowe’s Guide Service is owned and operated by Cedar Key resident Jason Lowe. Jason has been fishing Central Florida and Cedar Key since he was a child, and is now a USCG Licensed Captain. He loves being on the water and guiding his customers to a great day of fishing! His passion is to help people experience what he has been blessed to experience the outdoors just like he has his whole life!

Four passengers fit comfortably aboard the 24ft Skiff Boat. Built in 2018, this fishing vessel is powered by a Mercury engine with 150 HP that gets us to the fishing grounds in quick, dry ride. There is a casting platform for our anglers, and a livewell for the bait. Safety equipment include PFDs for each passenger (personal floatation device), fire extinguishers, and flares. Captain Jason also has a First-Aid Equipment Kit and is trained in CPR. Your safety is a top priority with J. Lowe’s Guide Service.

Captain Jason Lowe offers half day trips and full day trips for your group of four. The half day trips run for 4 hours, while the full day trip is a 7 hour adventure. We’ll be doing some bottom fishing, jigging, light tackle, spinning, drift fishing, or fly fishing if you’d like. Whatever your skill level (novice or expert), Captain Jason looks forward to fishing with you. He is happy to teach or guide as needed for your level.

We’ll be fishing the backcountry flats and inshore waters of Cedar Key, located on the west coast of Florida. This is a fishing town with local restaurants available to cook up your catch at the end of the day! If you would like to go scalloping, just let Captain Jason know and we can accommodate your trip.

Everything you’ll need for a great day of fishing is provided by J. Lowe’s Guide Service: fishing license, bait, lures, rods, reels, and tackle. You’ll want to bring sunscreen, bug repellant, hat, jacket, sunglasses, drinks, food, camera, and your desire to have fun and catch fish!

  • Weather cancellations are at your Captain’s discretion, your safety is their number one priority! You will receive a refund for any weather cancellation, or you can choose to reschedule your trip for a different date.

Half Day Trip (PM)
This was by far the best charter that I have been on. Captain Lowe kept up with us leading into the charter and when we showed up was ready to go. Great personality, great patience, clean language, that works well with kids and families. I brought my son for his 8th birthday and captain Lowe made it special for him. Put us on a lot of fish, brought home a lot of meat. Never stayed in a dead spot too long, enjoyed the sights of Dolphins. Thank you captain Lowe for the memorable trip and I’ll be calling you again in the future.

We we picked up promptly at our designated time right at our condo after reserving 4 months in advance, Jason has impeccable communication and is very patient. We had our children and today in the water was fantastic. We will be back soon! Thank you gor helping us create wonderful memories.

Half Day Trip (AM)
We took our 15 year old son out to catch some fish. He was the first to catch a shark! Jason was extremely attentive, engaging, and fun. He was in touch with other boat captains during the trip to find out where the fish were biting and moved us as needed to get more bites. He was the perfect host and captain. We caught several fish and kept two nice trout for supper. We will definitely go with Jason again. Had a blast, and memories for a lifetime.
