Sight fishing the flats and Backcountry fishing in Big Pine and the Lower Keys. “The Big Three” Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit are the most sought after target species that roam the area. Other options may be available like Snook and Redfish. Catch and Keep Mangrove Snapper, Seatrout, and Spanish Mackerel are some good options for table fair for Backcountry fishing. 20 years of experience and knowledge of the inshore waters as originally from the Keys, Capt. Robert will put you on some fish. Captain Robert Horachek is owner and operator of Kingfisher Backcountry Charters. The business is named after his late uncle’s charter boat called the “Kingfisher”. An inspiration to never give up, Captain Robert now guides in honor of him. Experienced and Non-experienced anglers of all ages are welcome aboard. Kingfisher Backcountry Charter aims to give all customers a great day of inshore fishing! Captain Robert’s goal is to provide the best professional service by successfully guiding you on the water and creating lasting memories for your group. Perfect for three passengers, the 17ft Action Craft SE Fly Fisher Carbon Kevlar series flats boat is equipped with Yamaha 115HP 4-stroke, 8ft power pole blade and 24v Minn Kota trolling motor. The particular vessel is one of the most stable skiffs available and provides a great comfortable ride that is not too fast or too slow (average speed is 30mph). We can enter the backcountry and draft 7-9 inches of water. Your group of three will want to bring the following items: food and water (I provide cooler), sunscreen or appropriate clothing to protect from the sun (such as long sleeve fishing shirts and pants), polarized sunglasses, towel, and a camera to capture the memories! Everything else I will take care of: rods and reels, tackle, live bait (usually shrimp and blue crabs), license and insurance, fuel, flies for fly fishing, fly rods and reels, Yeti cooler for your drinks and food. Get ready for your amazing Backcountry Fishing adventure with Captain Robert! We’ll get you on the fish and provide a great day on the water! We look forward to fishing with you!

Half Day Trip (AM)
Took a half day morning start back country trip with Capt. Robert on March 20. A cold front was still passing through and conditions were windy but Capt. Robert still managed to put us on some fish (trout, snook, juvenile tarpon). He worked hard, changed locations, baits/rigs, etc. to make sure we got the most out of a windy slow day of fishing the back country in March. We’ll be back and will hopefully be able to charter with Capt. Robert again when the weather (and fishing) warms up!

Half Day Trip (AM)
Captain Robert was fantastic. After leaving the ramp and within 5 minutes we saw Tarpon rolling in the channel and my son hooked and landed an 80 lb tarpon . We then hooked a second Tarpon that broke free. Shortly after we caught 2 redfish and finished the day looking for bonefish. I would highly recommend Captain Robert with Kingfisher Backcountry Charters
