My name is Captain Mike Lauret and I have been fishing for trout, redfish and flounder for over thirty years, starting in New Orleans fishing Lake Ponchartrain as a teenager using lures. I lived just a few blocks from the lake and managed to fish almost every day, the beginning of the obsession of saltwater fishing. I moved to Texas in the seventies and began fishing the Galveston Bay system in the mid-eighties. I have been guiding since 1994 when I got my Coast Guard captains license, a requirement to be able to guide saltwater fishing. I guided part time until 2001 then went full time. I have a passionate love for fishing, respect for the resource and the environment and thoroughly enjoy guiding. Guiding is so rewarding as every day I get to meet people who are in a good mood, excited and are ready to have fun and all of this takes place on the beautiful waters of Galveston Bay. I wrote articles for several years for the Gulf Coast Connection when Gene Baker owned it, I was writing both the Hot Spot as well as Articles for Texas Saltwater Angler Magazine every two weeks since January 2016, just recently resigning from that. My articles are tailed towards the techniques and methods that I use daily using lures as that is the only way I fish. My charter business, Lauret’s Guide Service, is a great way for me to fish every day and see people fall in love with fishing the same way I have. There’s nothing like seeing my customers hook-in and reel in their very first fish! Kids are welcome and encouraged to come onboard. I used to take my sons fishing twice a week until they got old enough to go on their own. Having kids onboard is always a good time! Included in your trip price is a fully licensed captain and commercially insured boat 23V Kenner boat that is big, clean, and safe. I also provide top quality rods and reels, either bait casters or spinning reels. Ice for fish is provided and I’ll clean, filleted, and bagged your catch at the end of the trip. All you need to bring is your Texas fishing license, food, drinks and ice to cool them down. You’ll want to wear a cap, sunscreen, sunglasses, and non black-soled tennis shoes. And depending on the season you’ll want cold weather clothes or a raincoat. Just let me know if you want to bring your own tackle. When you book Lauret’s Guide Service, you get an experienced guide who loves fishing, and you’re sure to be hooked too! Schedule your Galveston Bay fishing adventure today!
