Captain Max Fry was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the town of Oxford. From the time he was 5 years old, he was starting to navigate the waters of the Chesapeake Bay with his father, Mitchell Fry, on his 30 ft Blackwatch. By the time Max was 7 he could run the boat under the supervision of his father. The two of them would fish the bay for striped bass at least 3 times a week during the fall, spring and summer. Mitchell made fishing and hunting a mandatory part of growing up for Max. Another major influence on Max’s life was Captain Justin Firth. Justin taught Max how to navigate the bay in search of big fish. He taught him different techniques of how to fish for striped bass during the different times of year. Whether it would be trolling in the fall, jigging in the winter, or casting light tackle in the spring, Justin was one of Max’s greatest mentors. Max’s first big fish was caught when he was only 9 years old, a 37″ 20lb striper caught jigging with Justin. Their photo of the fish hung on the register in Albright’s Gun Shop for about ten years. This was the fish that got Max hooked!

Trips leave out of Cape Charles VA at kiptopeke boat ramp. We run anywhere from 10 to 20 miles looking for big cobia on the surface. We use artificial baits and live eels to catch these fish. All of our cobia fishing is done by sight casting. Once we find the fish you will be casting the Bait directly to them!!
