Welcome to New Orleans Style Fishing Charters LLC! Captain Jason Shilling is owner and fishing guide of this full-service, private charter for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Your group is invited to come fish the backwater marsh, lakes, bays, and bayous of Lafitte, Louisiana (located just outside of New Orleans)! New Orleans Fishing Charters offers guided fishing charters for anglers of all skill levels of fishing. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a family of first time fishermen/women, Captain Jason will cater to everyone and have y’all reeling in fish in no time. As a local of the Lafitte and the New Orleans area, Captain Jason knows all the local hot spots to take your group to catch your share of fish. We'll be fishing in a beautiful 22ft custom bay boat that’s powered by a 200hp Mercury Optimax. This boat is equipped with all that is needed to accommodate up to 4 people plus the captain. Larger groups are welcome with advance notice; Captain Jason will coordinate with other guides to accommodate your needs. Located just 40 mins south of New Orleans, Lafitte is home to some of the finest inshore fishing the New Orleans area has to offer. Catching the hard fighting Redfish and the paper mouth Speckled Trout daily, as well as a variety of other species of fish such as Black Drum, Flounder and Sheepshead. Don't hesitate to ask Captain Jason if you have any question about fishing these inshore species. New Orleans Fishing Charters begin at safe light from Nick’s Marina and run 5-6 hour trips. A $10 fishing license is required for anyone 16 years old or older. This license can be obtained easily in advance by phone or online. Captain Jason is a United States Coast Guard licensed captain and a local of the Lafitte area. He's been fishing these waters his entire life and knows how to show y’all the true meaning of Fishing New Orleans Style with southern hospitality, good times, and lots of action.   • Weather cancellations are at your Captain’s discretion, your safety is their number one priority! You will receive a refund for any weather cancellation, or you can choose to reschedule your trip for a different date.

Trip Details

This morning trip will take you catching Redfish and Speckled Trout in the backwater marsh of New Orleans. You will be provided with rods, reels, lures, tackle, drinks (bottled water), and cleaning and bagging of your catch.

It was a great morning on the water. Went with kids and he was great with them. He was patient and helped with the lines so we all caught fish, which made for great memories. Thank You!

Full Day Trip (PM)
It started raining on our way to the marina. Captain Jason told us we could cancel with no cancellation fees if we didn’t want to go out in the rain. We decided to go even though we didn’t have any rain gear with us. Capt. Jason provided us with two of his older rain jackets. the trip was great even though it rained the entire time we were out. My daughter and I both got our limit on redfish. Jason knows where the fish are. He is great.

5 Hour Trip (AM)
It was a cool & blustery day… and according to my search online, NOT a good day for fishing. Captain Roy (he works with Capt. Jason Shilling) took me, my California daughter, and my 2 grandsons (ages 12 & 15) out to fish. The 15-year old caught a whopping 7+ pound drum, the largest fish he ever caught, and everybody caught fish. Captain Roy was friendly, patient with the kids, and knowledgeable. The photo doesn’t do it justice, as the fish are much bigger than the photo shows. Of course, we threw back smaller fish, including some bass that put up a good fight. Capt. Roy fileted our fish when we returned to the marina and it was enough to feed 15-20 people. I cooked half of the fish that night and froze the rest. Very tasty!!!
