From the late summer well into the fall, large spawning red bass invade the St.Johns River. These big, bruising fighters are caught soaking live blue crabs and other natural baits on the bottom with stout tackle. Catching them is a real feat of strength and endurance! Total catch-and-release fishery as most of these fish are large spawning females who must be released. No casting skills required.

This trip involves running along the beach and up to 4 miles offshore looking for free-swimming cobia, cobia following the giant Manta Rays or cobia in bait pods. Once the fish are spotted, it's all-hands-on-deck sight casting either live bait or jigs to them. Challenging and fun! These are big, strong fish that are great eating. A big advantage if guests can reasonably accurately cast a spinning rod. Typically a 8 hour trip. Season runs from March through June.

We will be pursuing the exciting and acrobatic tarpon, the Silver King, and a variety of hard-fighting sharks in the nearshore waters off Jacksonville. We'll be fishing anywhere from hundreds of yards of the dry sand, around the Mayport Jetties and to 6 miles out. Using live bait and sight-casting, some casting skill with a spinning rod is helpful. This is a seasonal fishery which lasts from June into the Fall.
