Captain Paul Johnson will be at the helm during the course of your Islamorada fishing charter. Spending most of his childhood on the reef fishing for Snapper, he developed a passion for the sport of fishing. Capt. Paul has over 30 years of experience running charters in the Florida Keys. He loves sharing his passion for fishing with others and cant get enough of watching his customers reeling in a huge catch.

Your Florida Keys fishing trip with Capt. Paul will begin in Islamorada, and go on to cover the areas near Tavernier, Plantation Key, Key Largo, Lower Matecumbe Key, Layton, and many other beautiful locations in South Florida.

Capt. Paul has a 40ft sport fisherman that is absolutely perfect for deep sea fishing in Islamorada. You will find all the latest safety and navigational equipment on board and a roomy interior with plenty of seating and a toilet. This boat comes with a fighting chair, outriggers, and a flybridge to better help locate and catch fish.

Our 4, 6, and 8-hour trip options will know exactly where to go to see you reeling in many big game catches. You will be provided with all the fishing gear and bait needed for success and a fishing license is included at the start of the trip. We will use and teach you about many fishing techniques including bottom fishing, deep sea fishing, drift fishing, spinning, trolling, and light tackle fishing.

Islamorada is home to a plethora of exciting species, and you can expect to see the likes of Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Marlins, Sailfish, and many more on any of your trips with us.

On this 4 hour trip, we will Travel about five miles offshore to fish the reef for Mackerel, Snapper, Sailfish, Cobia and more. Capt. Paul will provide you with everything needed for a fantastic day of fishing!

3/4 Day Trip

On this 6 hour trip, we will go up to 12 miles offshore to fish for Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi and more. Capt. Paul will provide you with everything needed for a fantastic day of fishing!

Depending on the season we could travel up to 25 miles offshore to fish for Blue and White Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, Mahi Mahi and more. It is possible to fish the reefs on the way out for species such as Snapper, King Mackerel, and Cobia.

Full Day Trip (Private)
Wow - what an amazing fishing adventure! We have been on several private charters out of Islamorada in the past, and this was the absolute best. Captain Paul and Christian were very kind, knowledgeable, and overall fantastic. We caught a dozen mahi-mahi that we kept, and released another 1/2 dozen or so. I’m sure we could have caught more, but my family decided to cut the trip short because our boys were feeling a little sea-sick due to the rough waters that day. We were in Florida for a week, and this, by far, was the highlight of our trip. Bottom line - we highly recommend Reef Runner Charters, and will book with them again.

3/4 Day Trip
My family (wife and 2 kids- 13 and 15) took an3/4 day trip Capt Paul and Christian. They were well organized and very knowledgeable. Capt Paul took us to the best spots for fish, constantly on the move for the best opportunities. Christian did a great job of not only managing the equipment in the water but also planning ahead and having secondary rods ready with different baits to meet whatever the need was quickly. They were friendly and made my family very comfortable. This was the first time my kids have been charter fishing and they have both asked to go again. That is the best endorsement!

3/4 Day Trip
We arrived at about 6:30 am and met Capt. Paul. Later 1st mate and 2nd mate arrived and we headed out shortly afterwards after ice and supplies loaded. As we headed out we chased a great sunrise and within a couple of hours hit our first school of mahi mahi. As we brought fish in first mate was outstanding keeping the school chasing out bait. Very busy and very exciting. We had runs thorough out the day and ended up with 18 mahi mahi and 1 black tuna. Cannot express how we enjoyed the trip. Captain and crew were great, helpful (always polite) and answered our questions during the quit moments. The first mate was outstanding, knowledgeable and took care of business professionally. We would definitely not caught what was caught had it not been for the captain and crew. Our group of 4 (two couples) have fished (mainly lakes/rivers) but nothing like this before - truley an experience for us all. Thanks to Captain Paul and crew.
