Hello Everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this weeks report is a good one to start out our summer fishing in Fort Lauderdale so lets get to it, as of late there has been some steady action both inshore and offshore in Fort Lauderdale, lets start off on the reef we have been having much success while trolling the reef in search of king mackeral which have been plentiful a well as bonito, morning charters have been best for them as of late as well as trolling in depths from 90-160 feet just on the drop off. There has been some blackfin tuna as well in the deeper waters like 200-300 feet later afternoon has been best for them and the smaller size fish have been being caught on trolled feathers where as the bigger blackfin Ttuna close to 20lbs are still around and they are a fan of live bait fished from a kite like sailfish do, like I said later afternoons have been best for them as well as any day with overcast conditions, As we venture further offshore there has been some mahi mahi or dolphin moving through in depths around 800 feet I have been catching them somewhat regularly when I venture out there but you need to find something to fish to like birds or debris, most of the fish I caught this week were on frigate birds which eventually lead me to a weed line or some sort of floating object, this time of year when venturing off the coast of fort Lauderdale. in search of mahi mahi live bait is key to success if you find a school of dolphin, mahi are very aggressive and the live bait with produce an almost immediate strike, the live bait of choice would be a smaller baitfish called a pilchard. This week also we have been catching some nice wahoo one of my favorite to eat we have been catching them on some of the debris floating by while fishing a planner with a bonito strip always a lucky catch when getting them that way. As far as bottom fishing goes this week it has been somewhat slow most days there has been very very fast current which has made it very tough to fish certain spots, but on the days the current is light we have been catching some vermillion and yelloweye snapper both great eating. Plenty of great pictures this of some recent catches this week so make sure to check those out. We do have some availability for the month of June left so if your coming down to fort Lauderdale make sure to check us out the fishing is heating
