When you visit the Flagler Beach pier you’ll encounter wooden planks stretching over the ocean, a runway of sorts to the fantastic fishing just moments away. It’s a classic wooden pier giving anglers and sightseers some of the best views in the small beachtown. Located off A1A, the pier is just opposite S 3rd Street. There is handicapped parking and beach access to the north at S 2nd Street and A1A. There are also other free parking lots within one block of the beach up and down A1A.

Once you’ve arrived, grab your gear and head to your fishing spot. Your gear can include a lawn chair, although there are benches up and down the pier for your convenience. You’ll also want a long net to help bring your catch up, and a cooler to store your catch. Be courteous to others on the pier and remember that there’s no overhead casting on the pier. And anything you bring to the pier must leave with you. Plan to stay a few hours when you drop your line, and enjoy the view while you wait for a bite. It won’t be long before you have a cooler full of fish!

The pier stretches over 800 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, giving anglers access to a variety of species. The action is constant up and down the pier; there simply isn’t a bad spot when fishing here. Anglers can expect to see a variety of fish when fishing the pier. The season and time of day are both factors to consider when targeting your next catch, but you’re sure to see something for your efforts. Redfish, snook, and trout are inshore favorites when fishing from the pier.

You won’t need a license to fish the pier, but there is a fee to gain entry. Even non-anglers will need to pay a small fee to walk the pier and take in the view. There are senior and military discounts available with proper ID; and seasonal or family passes are also available. Visit the bait shop for anything you may need for your day of fishing, including rental gear, snacks, or drinks. The pier is open from 6am to 12am throughout the year, and is a great place to spend the day fishing!

Flagler Beach may not be as well known as other Florida East Coast beach towns, but it’s still a really great town to visit. Located between St. Augustine to the north and Daytona Beach to the south, it’s a small beachtown with a laid-back vibe. There are almost 20 miles of beaches that are perfect for sunbathing, building sandcastles, and fishing.
