My name is Grant Coppin and I am the owner of Backlash Charters. I have lived on the Texas Coast for 13 years and have been guiding the local waters here in the coastal bend professionally, for the last 7 years. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling or rewarding occupation then waking up every morning on the Texas coast and fishing for a living. I grew up in central Texas until I was 18 years old when I moved to Corpus Christi to pursue my passion for the outdoors. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist so I completed my degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. After that I continued my career in academia while at the same time fishing professionally on the FLW circuit with my tournament partner and father, Danny Coppin. We were a very successful team placing in many top ten’s and top five’s. We were a highly ranked team, qualifying for five consecutive tournament championships. During my Graduate studies I was approached by several of my class professors, who all told me that I would have to choose between my educational career and my fishing career. SeeTrip Details
We leave the dock in the northern end of laguna madre and usually head south exploring the lagoon for trout reds drum and flounder. When we return we will have your catch cleaned at a minimal charge and plenty of local restaurants will cook your catch after an exciting day on the water.
